Planning & Gazette articles
Further to the article in the Gloucestershire Gazette we would like to let all our shooters know what is happening and to dispel all the rumours. We have put in for planning permission to safeguard your shooting on a Sunday. We have the shooting rights on the ground at Kingswood therefore, as well as the Clay Shooting, Neil is permitted to carry out vermin control and we also run a small pheasant shoot there. The problem has arisen because local residents have been contacting the planning department saying we shoot in excess of the 28 days. This is based on residents counting when we shoot (pheasant shoots and vermin control also counted). The local paper stated that we are going to shoot every Sunday at Kingswood. This (as you all know) will be very difficult as we shoot at Huntingford the other Sunday. As Neil stated in the article "we are very good at what we do, but we cant be in 2 places at once" The planning application has been misconstrued There have also been less than kind remarks made about Bristol Clay Shooting on the Stroud planning site (correspondence from local residents) - We are local, and have lived locally for the past 5 years. We're not from Bristol (as people are lead to believe) - Saying we start shooting at 9am - We start at 9.30am - That we shoot through the 2 minute silence on Remembrance Sunday - The last 2 Remembrance Sundays have been at Huntingford and as you know we stop. Infact we stop for at least 3 mins. There is probably a majority of shooters who have served queen and country and would be disgusted if we didnt stop. We also have our own Jason Steele currently serving in Afghanistan - That Neil is an entrepreneur and making money - As you know the shooting is run as a business - Clay landing in peoples gardens? - Hillesley is a mile away, the clays would need engines and a propeller to get that far! - Shooting goes on longer than advertised - As you all know 1pm is the latest anyone can book in. Therefore if we are busy then we could have people shooting later. We are not restricted on times and could if we wanted to shoot all day.
_________________________ Your fortnightly shooting at Kingswood will not be affected by this application and we will keep you updated.
