New Weekday Shoot

After the Easter school holidays we will be opening a new shooting ground at Old Down Country Park.

Old Down is situated just outside Thornbury.

The shooting ground will be within a wooded area.

The facilities at Old Down are fabulous.  There are toilets a well stocked farm shop and a cafe with a vast range of refreshments.  There are also 2 wood burners to warm you if the weather is cold.

There is also a large gravel car park right by the booking in cabin.

We will still be giving away free tea and coffee, by way of vouchers which you can redeem in the cafe.

More details to follow.

Waste of £18 Million

Nicola Heron, a GB Shooting Team member is protesting about the 2012 Olympic Shooting Sports Arena.

If you are not already aware, £18 million is being spent on building then pulling down a state of the art shooting arena for the 2012 Olympics.

Nicola is petitioning No.10 against this immoral waste of money which leaves no legacy for the shooting sports after the Olympics.

Shooter Poll

The Olympic shooting was a big disappointment for the GB shooters without even an entry in the men's Olympic skeet event.

How can we ensure there is no repeat at the 2012 games?

Have a complete overhaul of the running of the sport, creating a single body to run it and setting up a more professional body to run it.
Replace 28 day rule with 60 day rule providing an Olympic discipline is run on half of those days.
Ensure non-premier grounds are given a higher profile within the governing bodies
Be more pro-active in marketing the sport to non-shooters
Nothing-it is an 'if your face fits' selection system no matter how good you are.
